The speaker

Dr Mitra Basu Chhillar, M.D.

Dr Mitra Basu Chhillar is a physician with over thirty years of clinical practice in preventive, functional and regenerative medicine. He is the founder and Medical Director of SOMA Longevity Sciences, with centres in Mumbai and New Delhi, and the author of six books, including The Hormone Shift and The Invisible Tide. He has published 65 papers and holds patents from his years at the Defence Research and Development Organisation, where he helped build a coronary risk analyser and one of India's early telemedicine links. He teaches through SOMA Academy.

Dr Mitra Basu Chhillar's medicine began before medical school, watching his grandfather and father practise a living, unwritten Ayurveda at the bedside in a village home. The MBBS, the MD in Medicine and a cardiology-focused residency gave that instinct its discipline, and three decades of preventive, functional and regenerative practice have not changed its starting point: the person in front of you, and what their physiology is actually doing.

Instead of private practice he joined the Defence Research and Development Organisation, where he helped develop a coronary risk analyser and one of India's early telemedicine links, and ran the DRDO Health Centre, screening more than eighteen thousand employees and their families. He later built and headed a CBRN defence, mitigation and research division, and led medical teams through the Srinagar floods and the Tamil Nadu tsunami. His 65 publications and his patents came from one habit: when clinical observation disagreed with the textbook, he treated the disagreement as data.

In 2005 he founded the Bhagwati Society for Child and Women Welfare, which has helped more than fifteen hundred people who could not otherwise afford diagnosis and treatment. In 2012 he lost his mother to Alzheimer's, a loss that turned his research toward neurodegeneration, environmental toxins and the under-examined places where answers might still be found. He is the founder and Medical Director of SOMA Longevity Sciences, with centres in Dadar, Mumbai and Greater Kailash, New Delhi, the author of six books, and the intellectual centre of SOMA Academy, where the reasoning behind the practice is organised, questioned and taught.

Subjects

Some of the ground he covers

These are starting points, not a menu. Thirty years across preventive, functional and regenerative medicine means most themes in the field are ones he has worked in, so bring your own subject. Any of it can be a keynote, a lecture, a panel contribution or a conversation, shaped for physicians, researchers, healthcare leaders or the public.

Functional medicine, from first principles

Why the same symptom has different causes in different people, and how a physician reasons from physiology instead of from a protocol. The foundation course he has taught to practising doctors in Mumbai and Chennai.

Xenobiotics: the chemical load we all carry

What environmental chemicals do inside the body, how to measure the burden, and what actually helps clear it. Drawn from his book The Invisible Tide.

Hormones after forty

How the hormonal picture shifts with age in men and women, what the tests miss, and where correction is proven, promising or still being studied. From The Hormone Shift.

Diabetes, rewired

Type 2 diabetes as a reversible metabolic state rather than a lifelong label: the evidence, the mechanism and the clinical method.

EBOO, ozone and oxygen-based therapies in clinical practice

Extracorporeal blood oxygenation and ozonation: equipment, protocols, dose and where the evidence stands. Usually taught as a hands-on workshop.

Long COVID and post-viral illness

What is known about the persistent syndrome, and a practical approach to the person who has not recovered.

Neurodegeneration and the environment

Alzheimer's and Parkinson's through the lens of toxins, metabolism and inflammation, and what prevention could look like.

Nutrition as medicine

Food as the first intervention: what the evidence supports, what it does not, and how to talk about it without gimmicks.

Your theme

If your programme has a subject that is not listed here, ask. If it sits anywhere in preventive, functional, regenerative or longevity medicine, the chances are he has taught it.

How it works

Three steps, no forms after this one

1. Tell us about the event

The form below asks for the essentials: who you are, what the event is, when and where, and what you would like him to do. Two minutes.

2. Hear back within a week

Dr Chhillar reads every invitation himself. The Academy office replies with a yes, a question or a no, and handles dates, travel and any fee in that reply.

3. Receive the speaker kit

Once confirmed, you get the kit by email: short and long bios, credentials, the talk abstract and print-quality photographs, ready for your programme.

The invitation

Tell us about your event

Conferences, workshops, podcasts, interviews and online sessions are all welcome here. Fields marked with a star are needed; everything else helps.

What you send here goes to the SOMA Academy office and to Dr Chhillar, and nowhere else. Fees, travel and stay are discussed in the reply, not on this form.
